Type This kind of peacock was put on top of a pole; on the back metal-eyes-peacock feathers and metal-jewellery were fixed into it.

The Mahlia-Kond live in the area of Orissa in the north-east of India.  From the middle of the 19th till the beginning of the 20th century nomadic blacksmiths manufactured these statues  for the Kond in cire perdue (lost wax) technique.  

The core is made out of clay.
